The name “Buccleuch” has an interesting origin! Legend has it that in the 10th century, King Kenneth III was hunting in a deep ravine (referred to as a “cleuch”) in the heart of the forest. During the hunt, a young buck became cornered and charged towards the unarmed King. This event led to the name “Buccleuch,” which means “cornered buck” or “buck’s cleuch”

The most common way/easiest way to pronounce the name is "BACKLU"
